1. You are a self-managed investor and need ideas and keep up with the markets
You would like our educational articles and the possibility to purchase occasional stock research, without having to commit fully to my portfolios.
If this is you, please go over to the Astute Investor’s Calculus website (off-Substack).
Once there, you can read 2 free articles per week. The articles include strategy tips, educational articles, stock screens, and occasional market commentary. If you decide you want to read more, you can buy a membership at a nominal cost.
This is the only way to access my free or nominally priced writing.
The Stock Research is made available in the Shop area of the website. You do not need a membership to visit this area. Please note that the research is offered with a delay - the Substack Premium members get it first (see the next 2 choices)
2. You want to follow a value portfolio designed to manage risk and maximize performance
My writing on Substack is now reserved for Paid members only. If you have not yet upgraded, you should see some free previews of the Paid articles. For better access to my articles, screens and tips, see #1 above.
Upgrading to a Paid membership on Substack will get you access to my small-cap value portfolio and all the research I publish for this portfolio.
You have a choice of monthly or annual membership.
I recommend annual because it better aligns with the value investing timeframe. I don’t mind if someone joins at the monthly level to “try out”, but I do not want to feel compelled to chase short-term performance at the expense of the long term orientation that comes naturally to a value investor.
There is also a Founding member level, called Founder’s Club. This level is capped to 100 members at present. It gives you 3 additional portfolios. If you are interested in this level, reply to any of my emails and I will discuss if we can make it work with a one time payment for Lifetime access. I do not recommend buying it on Substack, as it will force you into a subscription model and cost you more than you need to pay.

You will receive first access to all research I publish, along with my personal portfolios, and optimized allocations in the portfolios. At Founder’s Club level, I also include a 30 minute call per year with you. If you wish to set one up, we will do the prep work over email ahead of time so the call itself is efficient.

I no longer offer free trials. There are a number of newsletters on Substack that will give you free trials. If you wish to preview the research, please go to the website in #1 above and purchase one of the available Stock Reports.
The Paid membership levels at Astute Investor’s Calculus are not going to be available forever, neither will they stay at the current prices. Here is why.
